I am having trouble getting started using Windows 7 64 bit edition and Developers Studio 2008. I downloaded and installed the file PCL-1.3.1-AllInOne-msvc2008-win64.exe. I downloaded and installed cmake-2.8.6.
CMake is a cross platform and open source tool for building C/C++ projects. CMake works by generating a collection of make files based on the project definition contained in the CMakeLists.txt file. The project definition is expressed using a domain specific language that CMake interprets.

I am not familiar with this tool. I followed the directions for the tutorial 'Using PCL in your own project' and created the files pcd_write.cpp and CMakeLists.txt. When I run cmake from the command line, I get the following errors: -- Could NOT find eigen (missing: EIGEN_INCLUDE_DIRS) CMake Error at C:/Program Files/PCL 1.3.1/cmake/PCLConfig.cmake:39 (message): common is required but eigen was not found Call Stack (most recent call first): C:/Program Files/PCL 1.3.1/cmake/PCLConfig.cmake:268 (pcl_report_not_found) C:/Program Files/PCL 1.3.1/cmake/PCLConfig.cmake:410 (find_external_library) CMakeLists.txt:3 (find_package) When I run the cmake GUI, it lets me enter the path for eigen.
I set it to C:/Program Files/PCL 1.3.1/3rdParty/include/Eigen, and that error went away. However, it now gives a similar error for boost: Could NOT find Boost CMake Error at C:/Program Files/PCL 1.3.1/cmake/PCLConfig.cmake:39 (message): common is required but boost was not found Call Stack (most recent call first): C:/Program Files/PCL 1.3.1/cmake/PCLConfig.cmake:268 (pcl_report_not_found) C:/Program Files/PCL 1.3.1/cmake/PCLConfig.cmake:410 (find_external_library) CMakeLists.txt:3 (find_package) Configuring incomplete, errors occurred! I tried setting the path to C:/Program Files/PCL 1.3.1/3rdParty/Boost-1.47.0, but that did not fix it. I could not find a boost path that it likes. It seems like some fundamental step in the installation and setup for Window 7 did not work properly on my PC. _______________________________________________ /.
Hi, I also faced with similar problem. Firstly, I deleted pcl libraries and dependicies.( included PrimeSense and OpenNI ).

After than, I installed all in one again. And I created a project folder on my Desktop, i show cmake-gui my project folder.( source code and lib binary pathes are my project folder path.) After configure and build step, cmake creates a sln file. I opened it with vs2010, build and run. But when i run it, vs2010 said miss pcl-common-gdb.dll.
So that, I copied all things into system32 from bin folder where pcl-1.3 path. And it is running now. I hope this may be help for you. Regards, Ramazan. Thank you for your advice. I uninstalled and reinstalled all of pcl 1.3.1 and its dependencies like you recommended, but I still get the same errors in the config step.
Does PCL 1.3.1 work in Windows 7, or do I need to install Linux to use it? Could you tell me what version of PCL you successfully used in Windows so I can try it? Also, what version of cmake did you use? I installed version 2.8.6.
